Where Are the Actual Data Jobs in Alberta Right Now?

The job market for data roles in Alberta looks different than the headlines suggest. Twenty-two percent of real Alberta data postings require no stated education credential. Sixty-four percent of those same postings describe responsibilities that go well beyond what the posting says. These are Alberta-specific numbers that haven't been published anywhere else. This session puts those numbers next to two people who prove them. Meghan Pick spent six years in oil and gas accounting before a data bootcamp led her into data governance work, now at H&R Block. A second speaker, a data and analytics leader whose own path into the field started somewhere else entirely, joins her to make the same case from a different angle. Neither took the route the job postings describe. Both are doing the work anyway.
